Our Company's HistoryFounded in 1985, our company was originally incorporated as Burgett Dietrich (B&D) and specialized in developing and managing “non-metropolitan area” managed care networks, mainly for Fortune 500 manufacturing companies. Since our inception, we have developed over 130 custom Point – of – Service (POS) gatekeeper and PPO networks in more than 30 states. In 1992, B&D was acquired by CoreSource, then the third largest Third Party Administrator (TPA) in the country. This acquisition and our client’s needs spurred the development of a complete portfolio of employee benefit services, including claims and other administrative support services to accommodate large, national accounts. In 1996, the former B&D was spun off from CoreSource and became a wholly owned subsidiary of CNA (Chicago, IL) and was re-named, CNA HealthPartners, Inc. (CNAHP). Our expansion of services and growth continued as CNAHP added supplemental services such as COBRA, Flexible Benefits Administration, Short Disability, HIPAA and Retiree Administration to meet the needs of our clients. On March 1, 2001 our company became a free-standing company with a commitment to technology to support our clients, with a new name – HealthSCOPE Benefits, Inc. (HSB). In August 1, 2002, HSB was acquired by and was a wholly owned subsidiary of Central Benefits Mutual Insurance Company. Central Benefits Mutual also included Central Benefits Administrators, Morris Associates, and The Plan Handlers. On December 31, 2007, all of the TPAs were merged into HealthSCOPE Benefits, and were purchased through a management buyout to again become a freestanding independent company. HealthSCOPE Benefits is one of the largest TPAs in the country, and our depth of resources and service capabilities remain as strong as ever.
